reflective writing

Overall this wasn’t my favourite projects because I didn't enjoy the subject as much as the precious ones and I felt like something was missing. I think this was because if I had more time I might of developed a stronger idea however I felt like it hadn’t clicked yet with me. However I did like using mixed media and playing with colour. I tried not to set rules for myself and took a more free experimental approach. I was inspired by the talk with the national gallery curator when he was talking about an artist who drew the same painting everyday and made a abstract painting based on the obscured composition from his drawings. I liked the idea of drawing something over and over again until it’s abstract. a consistent method I took in this project was working quickly because i wanted marks to be spontaneous and subconscious almost. something I would do more of if I had time would be to play with layering. Drawing over another drawing or painting on top of lots of drawings and collages. I like the idea of using different techniques to deconstruct/abstract an image.
